A single volume, bound for Marcus Fugger, from de Tournes' edition of the works of Plato.


16mo (123 x 70mm). Roman and italic types, 29 lines plus headline. Collation: a–z8 A–Z8 aa-rr8 ss6: 510 leaves. Printer’s device on title and last leaf, woodcut initials.


Binding: Contemporary Parisian binding by Wotton Binder C for Marcus Fugger, olive morocco, the sides, within an outer frame of double gilt fillets, inlaid with a cutout knotwork cartouche of russet morocco enclosing an oval in centre, outlined with gilt gouges, the ovals lettered PLATO/NIS, and TOMV S/IIII on upper and lower covers respectively; smooth spine divided by 3 bands of small arabesque tools between gilt lines into 4 compartments, each containing a gilt fleuron, gilt edges, blank leaves bound at end.
