Second collective edition, FIRST ILLUSTRATED EDITION, first issue. This copy belonged to Maxime Denesle (1906-1989), once Vice President of the A.I.B.


2 volumes in one, 12mo (156 x 99 mm). Roman type, 30 lines plus headline. Collation: π2 (π1 blank) *8 A-I12 K10 *4 A-I12: 240 leaves. Engraved frontispiece and 58 half-page engravings by Romeyn de Hooghe.


Binding: Red crushed levant morocco by Duru (160 x 108 mm), dated 1854, 3 gilt fillets round sides, spine gilt, gilt edges, marbled endpapers, inner dentelles.
