FRENCH BINDING WITH THE TYRAC DE MARCELLUS FAMILY ARMS.
2 parts in one volume, 8vo (173 x 95 mm). Roman type, 40 lines plus headline. Collation: ¶8 2¶8 3¶4 a-2x8 2y4 2z8 3a8 3b4; *8 2*8 3a-4p8 4q4: 400 + 392 leaves. Title-pages to each part, each with woodcut printer's device, ruled in red throughout. (Some marginal dampstaining, small marginal tear to g3 without loss.)
Binding: French brown morocco (179 x 108 mm), plausibly contemporary, bearing the arms of Tyrac de Marcellus (OHR 2372) within a gold wreath on both covers, double gilt fillet around sides, flat spine, 6 false bands composed of three gilt fillets, title in second compartment “HISTOIRES DES / EMPEREVRS / ROMAINS”, gilt flower on stem with leaves in other compartments, plain edges gilt.
