AUGMENTED EDITION of the work first published in 1570, illustrating the history of the kings of France, and a summary history of the lords, counts and dukes of d'Anjou, IN A RED MOROCCO ARMORIAL BINDING with the arms of the Forbin family of Aix-en-Provence.


2 works in one volume, 8vo (172 x 105 mm). Roman type and italic type, 33 lines plus headline. Collation: (1) ā8 ē8 a-z8 A-V8 X2 (2) Aa-Cc8: 386 leaves. Woodcut printer's device on 2 title-pages, woodcut initials and head- and tailpieces, few passages marked in ink. (Marginal dampstaining, slight browning and spotting, title-page and first leaf of first work repaired at fore-edge, 20 mm tear without loss to head of a4 affecting a couple of letters, 20 mm marginal tear to foot of y1 not affecting text, second work becoming detached at foot.)


Binding: Early seventeenth-century red morocco (180 x 124 mm), single gold fillet around sides, in centre circular gold stamp with arms, possibly of the Comte Forbin of Provence, spine with 3 full bands, impressed with single gilt fillet, 2-line title in gilt rectangle hatched by small gilt lozenges, edges speckled red (Binding slightly rubbed and with a few small stains, a few tiny wormholes to spine and upper joint).
