Description
CLAUDIANUS, CLAUDIUS. Cl. Claudiani Opera quam diligentissime castigata, quorum indicem in sequenti pagina reperies. (Venice: in the house of Aldo Manuzio & Andrea Torresano, March 1523)
8vo (168 x 97 mm). Italic type, 30 lines plus headline. Collation: a-y8: 176 leaves. Woodcut Aldine device on title-page and final verso, a few deckle edges. (Stain on title-page and final leaf from washed inscriptions, other light damp-staining, a few small wormholes at start.)
Binding: Contemporary Italian (Roman?) blind-tooled brown morocco (174 x 104 mm), border composed of a repeated knotwork tool, outline arabesque tool in center with corner fleurons and sun rays, edges speckled red and blue, stubs from two pairs of ties. (Spine heavily repaired, corners repaired, slight staining, a few wormholes.)
