Gothic type, 27 lines plus headline. collation: A-P8 Q6 (plus 2 unsigned folding plates, bound after Q2 and Q6) a2 (plus unsigned folding plate bound afater a1) b-d4 [2]a2 (plus unsigned folding plate bound after a1) [2]b-[2]c4 [2]d6 R-Z8 (plus 7 unsigned folding plates, bound after U1, U2, U5, Y1 (x2), Y5, Z8): 230 leaves. Engraved frontispiece, numerous illustrations. (Textblock frayed at outer margin, some browning and spotting throughout, folding plates creased at folds.)
binding: Contemporary calf over thin wooden board (178 x 111 mm), spine with 5 bands flanked by double gilt fillets, brown title label, edges stained red. (Joints cracking, binding worn at edges and corners, some slight delamination of leather.)
provenance: Inscription to upper pastedown—"Verein der Buchdrucker u. Schriftgiesser Ungarns. Bezirk Hermannstadt" purple stamp to first leaf of text. acquisition: Purchased in 1968 in Romania.
