FIRST EDITION of the comedy Les Grisettes by the seventeenth-century actor and playwright Charles Chevillet, sieur de Champmeslé (1642-1701), one of the first sociétaires of the Comédie-Française, known for his written collaborations with Jean de la Fontaine.

12mo (143 x 82 mm). Roman and italic type. collation: *2 A-F8-4 G4 (final leaf blank): 42 leaves. Title-page with woodcut device, woodcut initials and head- and tailpieces. (Some slight marginal dampstaining.)


binding: Contemporary calf (151 x 92 mm), 3 blind fillets around sides, spine with 5 bands, title in second compartment, gilt fleuron in others, speckled red edges. (Foot of spine repaired, extremities slightly rubbed.)
