A CHARMING COPY IN CONTEMPORARY LIMP VELLUM WITH FORE-EDGE FLAPS. THE DE-THOU–SOUBISE COPY.
The shelfmark on the inside upper cover is that of Charles de Rohan, prince de Soubise (1715-1787), who inherited the de Thou library. 8vo (160 x 100 mm). Roman and italic type, 29 lines plus headline. collation: *4 A-O8 P4: 124 leaves. Woodcut printer's device on title-page, woodcut initials. (Slight browning, worming to foot between O8 to endpapers.)
binding: Contemporary limp vellum (165 x 115 mm), fore-edge flaps, manuscript title on spine, remains of manuscript shelfmark. (Slight browning and creasing, worming to foot of lower cover with 10 x 80 mm loss.)
