the curved double-edged blade with central ridge and fine, well-defined watered steel pattern, the plain silver-gilt hilt of typical ‘capital-I’ form, with wooden scabbard covered entirely in en suite silver-gilt, the bud of the chape of ‘mango’ form, with suspension loop

The present dagger is an exceptional silver-gilt example of a dagger type more typically executed in plain tombak. A dagger of this type set with plain tombak ‘capital-I’ shaped hilt and scabbard decorated en suite is now in the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna (inv. no.Hofjagd- und Rüstkammer, C 88).
