Description
Scottish history and literature.
A collection of four works, comprising:
i) George Owen Harry. The Genealogy of the High and Mighty Monarch, James. London: Simon Stafford for Thomas Salisbury, 1604, 4to, modern morocco gilt by Rivière, gilt edges, [ESTC S103822; STC 12872], lacks plates
ii) Sir David Lindsay. The Workes. Edinburgh: Gedeon Lithgow, 1648, 8vo, modern calf gilt by Root and Son, gilt edges, [ESTC R22655; Wing L2313], occasional cropping or paper defects with loss of a few letters/words (eg. H4-5, N2, N4)
iii) [Patrick Lindsay.] The Interest of Scotland Considered, with regard to its police… agriculture… trade… manufactures. Edinburgh: Fleming and Co., 1733, 8vo, contemporary blue morocco gilt, gilt edges, [ESTC T17536; Goldsmiths' 7057; Kress 4111], very slightly rubbed
iv) Capt. Walter Scot. A True History of several honourable families of the right honourable name of Scot in the shires of Roxburgh and Selkirk. Item (iii) is dedicated to Archibald, Earl of Ilay, and is signed at end of the dedication "Lindsay". From this (and perhaps the fine binding) a former owner has speculated that this was probably the dedication copy.
