Folio (528 x 330 mm), engraved frontispiece depicting Atlas on top of the world with letterpress index of maps to verso and 100 double-page engraved maps (all called for in index), ALL WITH HAND-COLOURING, contemporary vellum, some marginal fraying and soiling, a few leaves repaired at margins or with splits at centrefold, map of Spain with marginal damage, extremities slightly rubbed with slight splitting at upper joint and neat repair at head of spine
AN ATTRACTIVE COPY, IN THE PUBLISHER'S VELLUM BINDING. The maps are all in the first or early states, including the world map, "one of the most attractive of its time" (Shirley, 451), in the important first state.
