active 1900-1930
Woman with peacock

Umberto Stiaccini was an Italian sculptor active during the early 20th century, particularly between 1900 and 1930. Working primarily in Florence, Stiaccini cultivated a client base who were entranced by his ability to capture the decorative spirit of the 1920s. Specifically known for his alabaster sculptures, Stiaccini seamlessly blended classical subjects and themes with stylised forms and even functional attributes, particularly through incorporating lighting as in the present object.
This charming figure of a woman and a peacock falls within this oeuvre as she sits around an enchanting vivid blue glass font.
