The sitter in this portrait is Nelly Carrière (Mme Dumesnil), the artist's third daughter, who was born in 1886. Eugène Carrière produced multiple portraits of his daughters from 1901 until 1905, examples include a 1905 portrait at the Musée d'Orsay,1 and an earlier portrait held at the Tate, dated to c. 1903.2
