A Meissen porcelain gilt-metal mounted casket and cover

circa 1870, outside-decorated

painted with quatrefoil cartouches after Philips Wouwerman, on a gilt diaper-pattern ground, the interior of the cover with a similar scene, the interior fitted with a velvet-lined pad with twelve foliate engraved gilt-metal sewing accoutrements, twice cancelled blue crossed swords mark, incised No11.x/71

19cm wide

Generally in good order. The casket has a small surface blemish to the back right corner of the cover. Some light rubbing to gilding. One handle of the scissors has become detatched and is in need of repair. The underside of the casket is dark and slightly sooty in appearance, probably form fiting. The lining looks very fresh and may be later than the casket but the utnesils look contemporary to the casket.
